Tips to get the best Charleston area vacation property experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Lagoon Villas - Pool, Newly Refurbished has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
