Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston area vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning, picking, and booking the bestrental:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Discounts!!- Stunning Luxury home- across from beach, pool\/hot tub, elevator, VIEWS!!! has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you book the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
