Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To book the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Charleston area restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Selecting the best vacation rental in the Charleston area area:

  • Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Oceanfront Villa in Wild Dunes Hot Tub & Community Pool! Great Views! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
