How to find the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in Isle of Palms. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best rental in the Charleston area area:
- Begin by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Cute Family Beach Home in Wild Dunes Resort; Close to the Beach w\/Porch Swing & Community Pool! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
