Tips to get the optimal Charleston area rental home experience:
When to reserve a Charleston area rental home & When to go:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Charleston area area. To find the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines have coupons for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing and booking the bestrental home:
- First, have your family choose vacation dates and a budget.
- 0.5mi Walk to the Beach, Pool, Patio, Large Yard has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is right for your trip.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
