The Space: Truly a Quiet Private Retreat
While Charleston is undeniably impressive, it is still a busy city. Our peaceful and serene home offers three key features for a peaceful stay:
1. Tranquil Location: Tucked back from the street, our home ensures a peaceful
ambiance without the noise of passing cars, unlike most other properties which are street front.
2. Exclusive Privacy: Many guest accommodations in Charleston are huge homes split into condos, but The Retreat is a standalone home exclusively for you. Say goodbye to shared walls or neighboring events, and savor uninterrupted privacy.
3. Private Fenced Backyard: Unwind with your appreciated ones in our secluded, fenced backyard. There’s not many similar back yards in the area, providing a unique space where you can relax with your family and friends.

The House
Recently modernized, our modern home is ideal for groups of 2-4 guests, featuring 2 bedrooms and 1 full bath. The open floor plan makes it ideal for spending quality time together.
The kitchen is entirely supplied with all the pots, pans & silverware you’ll need. Supermarket is just 1 mile away. Dine indoors or outdoors on the patio.
The bedrooms are dark & cool, designed for a restful sleep, with very comfortable beds that have received many compliments from our guests.
Adore your travel companions, but want some alone time? With different zones such as the front porch, the back yard, the living areas, and the bedrooms, you can find your own personal space.

The Backyard
Our calming backyard is a haven to relax in after busy days exploring Charleston. Sink into our inviting Adirondack chairs or appreciate dining under the palm trees on our cavernous patio, complete with soft landscaping lighting & privacy fence. If you want to work outside, our router extender ensures full bars of wifi in the backyard. A backyard like ours is a rare gem in this area, adding to the uniqueness of your stay at

The Front Porch
The front porch gets the morning sunlight, it’s the ideal spot to start your day as you sip your morning coffee while listening to the birds

The Neighborhood
Our home is located in Cannonborough where you can experience a vibrant local scene with its independent coffee stores and eateries. While King Street is only 5 min. walk away, where you can find all the famed eateries that Charleston is acclaimed for.
When you arrive at the home, you'll receive a welcome video from the owner, with his favorite neighborhood spots, ensuring an authentic local experience.
The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is just two blocks away.
Previous guests definitely adore our location, nearly every review mentioned how spectacular and convenient it is.

Driving
At The Retreat, accessing I-26 is a breeze with just two traffic lights between our home and the highway. Other properties located further south on the peninsula can take up to 15 mins. just to get out of downtown.

Once settled in, you'll find that you won’t need your car unless you plan to go to the beach, which is just a 20-min. drive away.
We provide one off-street parking spot. Due to the secluded location of the home, upsized cars (e.g. a Ford Expedition) will find the driveway tight and should park on the street.

Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Charleston area attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect vacation home in Charleston:

  • Select your vacation dates and budget.
  • Quiet. Private Yard. Walk to King has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you book the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
