Our top Rental home booking tips:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. To book the best vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your Search:

  • To start, have your group choose trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Explore Downtown King St - 12 Bedrooms\/7.5 Baths! has 12 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.

Have a great stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
