Strategies to get the very best Charleston area vacation property experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Stylish Getaway in Downtown Charleston has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, call the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area destination you simply love, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
