Finding the best Isle of Palms vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and choosing your Charleston area rental home:
- Start by having your group decide on trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. IOP 6BD Only 3 Min Walk to Beach w\/ Private Pool! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
