Booking the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting and booking the perfect Charleston area rental:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Second row back from the beach, cornhole court, putting green, private pool! - 2307 Palm has 9 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
