Finding the best value:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Book your Charleston area rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.

  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
