Getting the best Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick the perfectrental:
- To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Thriller - Brand New contruction, Ocean view, Private Pool, Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you love, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
- Record any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
