How to get the best vacation rental experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Isle of Palms. Booking your vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean Thriller - Brand New contruction, Ocean view, Private Pool, Hot Tub has 6 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
