Finding the best Isle of Palms vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, change your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the perfect rental in Isle of Palms:

  • Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Pool
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
