Tips for getting the perfect Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summertime is high season in Isle of Palms. Booking in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the perfect vacation rental:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Get Away Oasis with Private Pool, Pets considered, two houses from the beach - The Pink House has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you crave, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
