How to find the best vacation home experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and choosing yourvacation home:

  • Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Sand Wedge by AvantStay
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you are enamored with, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Some things to know before you go:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
