Tricks and tips to get the best Charleston area vacation home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to pick the best rental home in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 6 36th Avenue by AvantStay
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your trip.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Advice for a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
