Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Stunning Private Pool has 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Charleston area destination you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
