Getting the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Narrow your Search:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 4 36th Avenue by AvantStay
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the rental manager immediately to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your life at home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
