Strategies to get the optimal rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the best rental home:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. 4 36th Avenue by AvantStay
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
