Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- The earlier your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. The Bogard Duo 6 Bed 6 Bath has 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
