Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Get the best value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Charleston. Book your Charleston area rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting and booking a perfect Charleston area rental:

  • Choose your dates and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. ?The Inns ? Stylish 9BR\/6BA Downtown Home! has 9 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your group.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly property. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you are crazy about, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Call the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
