Strategies for getting the best rental home experience:

Finding your perfect rental home:

  • Summer is high season in Charleston. Reserve your Charleston area rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Filter your search:

  • Begin by selecting a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Large Groups - Downtown Charleston - 13BR\/13BA has 13 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you long to visit, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.

Tips to have a great stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
