Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental home experience:

Get the best rental home value:

  • Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning and picking your prefect Charleston area rental home:

  • Select your dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Large Groups - Downtown Charleston - 13BR\/13BA has 13 bedrooms and 13 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your family.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
