Our top Vacation rental tips:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and pick yourvacation home:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Lumie by AvantStay
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
