Tips to get the perfect Charleston area rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Charleston area rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Isle of Palms. To find the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

- If there's a particular Charleston area attraction you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
