Tricks and tips to get the very best Charleston area vacation property experience:

When to visit Isle of Palms & When to reserve a Isle of Palms rental home:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • To get the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Charleston area area:

  • Start by having your family choose a vacation week and a budget.
  • Incredible Beach Front Home w\/ Pool has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area beach you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Know before you go:

  • Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. text the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
