Our top Charleston area rental booking tips:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking your vacation home in Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Filter your search:

  • First, have your family select dates and a max budget.
  • Stunning Isle Of Palms Home w\/ Pool! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
