Strategies for getting the perfect Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Charleston area vacation home:
- First, have your group agree to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 7 on 46th Ave~ NEW 5 bedrooms, LUXURY, pool, elevator has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
