Booking the best Isle of Palms vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, shift your family's Charleston area vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the perfect vacation rental:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. AMAZING Golf and Ocean View Home! Private Ocean Point Community! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, contact the property manager before you book the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. message the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
