Tricks and tips to get the very best vacation property experience:
When to visit Charleston & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Charleston. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in Charleston:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Heritage Haven: Steps to Tradition and Taste has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Charleston area destination you long to visit, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
