Vacation rental tips:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the perfect rental home in the Charleston area area:

  • Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Heritage Haven: Steps to Tradition and Taste has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is best for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
