Our top Rental home tips:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, change your family's Charleston area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to narrow your search:

  • First and foremost, have your group choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • 3rd Floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area beach you love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
