Our top Charleston area rental home tips:

Getting the best value:

  • The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Summertime is high season in Charleston. To book the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Charleston area restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the perfect rental home in Charleston:

  • To start, have your family agree to dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. The Julep Suite At Morrison Manor On Third Floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
