Strategies for getting the perfect Charleston area vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental value:

  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summertime is high season in Charleston. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the bestrental:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Newly Renovated, Charming Home, Walk to Hampton Park has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area destination you are crazy about, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
