Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Charleston vacation property experience:

When to visit Charleston & When to book:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking yourvacation home:

  • First, have your family choose vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Casa Bella B: Newly Renovated 2nd Floor Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
