Rental booking tips:

Finding your best deal:

  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserve your Charleston area rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your search:

  • Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Downtown Duplex - Coming St - Sleeps 20 has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local scenic spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
