Booking the best Isle of Palms rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on the best dates and a max budget.
- Vibrant 6 BR Bungalow w\/ Entertainer's Dream Roof has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of concerns.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
