Tips to get the best vacation home experience:

Get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Charleston. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

How to select the perfect vacation rental in Charleston:

  • Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Freshly Renovated 2 Bedroom Apt, Walk Everywhere! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your agreement.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
