How to get the best Charleston area rental home experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Book your Charleston area rental home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Charleston area area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing your prefect Charleston area rental:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Vacation Villa 5 mins to King ‘The Royal Palm’ has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
