Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. The West Grand
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
