How to book the best Charleston area rental experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Historic Charm has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Charleston area destination you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
