Tips to get the perfect Charleston rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Charleston. To get the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Charleston area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose and book the rightrental home:
- First and foremost, have your family select the best dates and a spending budget.
- Designer Charleston Charm has 6 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a certain Charleston area attraction you simply love, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
