Strategies for getting the perfect Charleston vacation property experience:

Finding the best rental home value:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Bee & Blossom
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's an individual Charleston area destination you crave, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .

Tips for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
