Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the most suitable rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Historic Downtown Family Friendly Spacious Home has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
