Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Historic Downtown Family Friendly Spacious Home has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's a certain Charleston area destination you simply love, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
