Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Booking your Charleston area vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best rental:

  • First, have your group decide on the best dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. The Overlook on King has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
