Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To find the largest rental within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the perfect vacation home in the Charleston area area:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Most Unique High-End Luxury Rental w\/Private Pool On Folly Beach! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your agreement.
- If there's a specific Charleston area beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. text the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
