Tips to get the optimal Charleston area vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, change your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best rental home:
- Start by having your group commit to dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. OCEANFRONT Wild Dunes- Perfect for Relaxing w\/ the Ocean Breeze has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
