Our top Isle of Palms rental home booking tips:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefect Charleston area rental:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Private Pool, Elevator, Golf Cart for fee, Golf Course view- 8 Hidden Green has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
