Booking the best rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your Charleston area vacation home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. IOP w\/ Private POOL, RENOVATED, Walk to Local Stores! has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your trip.
  • If there's a particular Charleston area destination you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
