How to find the best Charleston rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season in Charleston. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Historic Romantic Downtown Row House with Free Parking has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Charleston area beach you are crazy about, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
