How to book the best Charleston rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family choose date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Modern 3BR in Downtown CHS Hottest Neighborhood has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- If there's an individual Charleston area beach you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
