Tips for getting the best Charleston area vacation property experience:

When to reserve a Charleston area rental & When to go:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in Charleston. Reserve your Charleston area rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Charleston area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. Savor Southern History at Lewis Court (Suite B) has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to stimulate more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
