How to find the best Charleston vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in the Charleston area area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental home in Charleston:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Couple’s Retreat
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. - If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Charleston area attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
More considerations:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to stimulate more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
