Booking the best Charleston rental home experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Charleston rental home:

  • The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Charleston area area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and choose the rightrental:

  • First, have your group select trip dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Luxurious Waterfront Getaway, minutes from Folly Beach has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking

Advice for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
  • Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
