Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are high season in the Charleston area area. To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Planning and choosing yourvacation home:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Exclusive Low Country Island Estate Excellent Choice Of Large Groups, has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More considerations:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
