Tricks and tips to get the very best rental home experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • Summertime is high season in the Charleston area area. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Charleston area area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Make a plan and choose the perfectrental home:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Exclusive Low Country Island Estate Excellent Choice Of Large Groups, has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a certain Charleston area destination you simply love, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
