Our top Isle of Palms vacation rental home tips:
Find your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Charleston area area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Charleston area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Charleston area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Choosing the best rental in Isle of Palms:
- Start by having your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Cast Away by AvantStay
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Charleston area attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
