Vacation rental tips:
When to visit Isle of Palms & When to reserve a rental home:
- To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area travel guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the perfect rental in the Charleston area area:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Premier, Modern Home! Great IOP Location! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Charleston area rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
