Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- In the Charleston area area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- To book the most suitable vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Charleston area area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Charleston area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Renovated townhome w\/ Pool and Tennis courts - 39 Linkside has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
